Åhörare på möte med Biennalens curatorer


I restaurang Blå Huset på Konstepidemin samlades i tisdags (15/3) ett femtiotal inbjudna gäster, som de första att möta tre av de fyra curatorerna för Göteborgs Internationella Konstbiennal:

Sarat Maharaj, som arbetar i ett curatoriskt team tillsammans med Dorothee Albrecht, Stina Edblom och Gertrud Sandqvist. Det övergripande temat Pandemonium: Art in a Time of ‘Creativity Fever’ är utgångspunkten för 2011 års biennal på Röda Sten.

Sarat Maharaj berättade om sina tankar och idéer inför årets biennal. Han inledde med orden: “We have here the opportunity of meeting and not exactly presenting, in a very formal way, the ideas of the biennale. We are trying, as if we have landed from Mars as aliens, trying to make contact with the other side, that kind of situation. I hope in the end of the evening we have broken down that sense of extraterrestrial feeling with you.”

Sedan följde en mycket innehållsrik och välformulerad föreläsning på över en timme. Vi fick bland annat fick lära oss en del om vår egen industriella historia i regionen. Mötet avslutades med frågor.

Last Tuesday (15/3) the Gothenburg International Art Biennial invited to a first meeting with the curators for the next biennial. Around fifty invited guests gathered at Konstepidemin to meet the four curators:

Sarat Maharaj, who works in team with Dorothee Albrecht, Stina Edblom and Gertrud Sandqvist. The theme for next biennial is: Art in a Time of ‘Creativity Fever’.  The biennial 2011 is housed by Röda Sten. 


Sarat Maharaj told his thoughts and ideas for the biennial: “We have here the opportunity of meeting and not exactly presenting, in a very formal way, the ideas of the biennale. This was followed by a comprehensive one hour lecture.Among other things we learnt a lot about our regional industrial history.
